Terms of Service
Effective September 27, 2026
Welcome to StayTonight. StayTonight is operated by MilePost Labs, LLC, a one-person company run by Mark Fugel; in these terms, “I” and “me” mean MilePost Labs, LLC. By using the app at staytonight.app you agree to these terms. They're short and plain — read them, please. If something doesn't sit right, email me at mfugel@milepostlabs.com.
What StayTonight is (and isn't)
StayTonight is a trip-planning aid for RV, van, and road travelers. It suggests places to sleep tonight based on your stated preferences and publicly available data, and overlays weather, cell-signal, and points-of-interest information from third-party sources.
It is advisory, not authoritative. The data sources are best-effort and sometimes wrong, stale, or incomplete. Always confirm critical details — site availability, posted regulations, road conditions, active fire bans, weather forecasts, gate codes — with the official source before you commit.
Do not rely on StayTonight for emergency, safety-critical, or legal-compliance decisions. If conditions look unsafe (severe weather, no cell signal, rough access, sketchy area), trust your judgment and the authorities on the ground, not the app.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for anything done through your account. Tell me right away if you think someone else accessed it.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- scrape, mass-download, or rate-abuse the API endpoints;
- use the service in a way that would violate the terms of the upstream data providers (Recreation.gov, OpenStreetMap, NOAA, Geoapify, OpenAI, etc.);
- reverse-engineer the app to clone it or build a competing product against the same APIs;
- upload or submit content that's harmful, illegal, or someone else's.
Reservations and external sites
StayTonight doesn't take reservations. Reserve buttons link out to Recreation.gov (federal sites) or the campground's own page. Directions buttons link to Google or Apple Maps. Any transaction or booking you make happens on those third-party sites, under their terms, not these.
Data accuracy and “Verify before you commit”
Each result is shown with a match score and a separate confidence pill that reflects how complete the underlying data is. Spots flagged with caveats deserve a phone call or website check before you drive there. Weather forecasts, cell-coverage estimates, elevation, air-quality readings, and amenity flags are estimates, sometimes hours old, and may not match what you find on the ground.
Intellectual property
The app's code, design, and content are mine. Your preferences, favorites, and feedback are yours; by sending feedback you give me the right to use it to improve the service. Third-party content (rec.gov data, OSM, NOAA, map tiles, etc.) belongs to its respective owners and is used under their terms.
No warranty; limitation of liability
StayTonight is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. I make no promise that it will be available, accurate, complete, or free of errors. To the maximum extent permitted by law, I'm not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising out of your use of the app — including loss of a campsite, a missed reservation, a longer drive than planned, or any in-the-field judgment you made based on what the app showed you.
Termination
You can delete your account anytime from ⚙ Preferences → Profile → Delete account. I can suspend or end accounts that abuse the service or break these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Dakota, USA (where MilePost Labs, LLC is organized), without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in South Dakota.
Changes
I may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in the app at next sign-in, and the effective date above will move forward. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.
